Choosing an experience
What is metrolore?
Outdoor escape adventures, set in your city. Choose an authored story and follow its clues on foot with your team, using the native iPhone or Android app.
Who is it for?
Curious people who enjoy mysteries, conversation and exploring together. Check each story's suitability: Decker is an adult music mystery; Keeper is a family adventure in development.
Where can we play?
Austin is our first city, with The Ballad of Decker Hayes in downtown Austin. The Keeper of Eliza Spring is in development around Barton Springs. Nashville is a future city.
Groups and teams
How many people can play?
One purchase covers up to 12 people, including those sharing a phone. Split into a maximum of three teams, with up to six players on each team. All three limits apply together.
Does everyone need the app?
Each Team Lead needs a compatible iPhone or Android phone with the app. Other players can join in around the lead's phone.
Do all teams start together?
No. Teams have independent starts and progress. Starting later is not a scoring penalty.
Can we compete?
Planned for launch: compare team scores within your group and on a per-story all-time leaderboard. Competition is optional; enjoying the story comes first.
Price and launch
How much will Decker cost?
$99 USD per group outing, not per person. One purchase covers up to 12 people and their included teams. The app is free to download; purchasing happens inside the app at launch.
When does it launch?
We're preparing the first Austin adventure. Request launch updates for launch notifications; we haven't announced a date.
Can I buy on the website?
Purchases and gameplay will happen in the native app. You can explore stories and request launch updates here.
Preparing to play
What should we bring?
For Decker, expect about 2 miles on flat terrain. Bring comfortable walking gear and a fully charged Team Lead phone. Download the story and prepare before setting out.
Will we need an internet connection?
Connected setup and recovery need service. Once downloaded and prepared, core gameplay is offline-tolerant.
